Track Manga-bey Monkeys
The Manga-bey, a grey cheeked primate unique to Uganda and also known as the Lophocebus Ugandae is the most common primate recorded in the jungle. It is a tree dweller and usually depends on the time, season and food availability to see it. This practice can only be carried out in the Mabira forest in Uganda and is endemic to Uganda
Butterfly Spotting
The identification of butterflies is another activity to engage in with 218 species of butterflies found in Mabira. You might need to learn about the 97 species of moths and 23 species of mammals too. Your guide will lead you through the various paths that will give you the best opportunity to see a number of butterflies.
Birding in Mabira forest
Uganda is a birding paradise, but Mabira Forest is a 306 square kilometer compact birding refuge. It has 315 species of birds, including the Blue Headed Crested Mornarc, the Black Bellied Seed Cracker, and Cassin Hawk Eagle, to name a few. After a night at the park, these birds will be your chirping alarm clock, and will sing their welcome cheerfully as you pass their habitat on a nature walk. Talking of nature walks, the forest has a well maintained track of over 68 kilometers for you to take a walk in the park. While you may need a walking stick to get some bushes out of the way on a gorilla trekking venture, the trail is clear enough in this evergreen forest to let you enjoy the trees.
