Uganda drops COVID-19 Mandatory Test , Targets more Tourists in 2022

For over 2 years Uganda Wilderness has been silent more notably because of the travel restrictions that were imposed on tourists both from their countries of origin and their preferred destination, this has left Tourism in the pearl of Africa crippled  and left to rely on domestic tourism. Although domestic tourism was significantly boosted, there were questions on whether the revenue collected  would sustain the noble cause of conservation and sustainability of the tourism and hospitality in most parts of Africa

Cost of Covid-19 Test at Entebbe dropped

In 2021,as a measure of  enforcing international covid-19 guidelines, all inbound travelers to Uganda were required to take a mandatory covid-19 test on arrival. Although it was completely as a travelers’ cost, this move significantly affected Scheduled Tours and Gorilla trekking safaris due to delays at the airport and sometimes possible quarantining, but the announcement in February 2022 came in as a breather for the tourism fraternity

Remember when the COVID-19 break out was reported in Wuhan China, most African countries took it for granted and some completely never closed down their borders but that was not the case with Uganda. Here Schools, Hotels, Public transport, Flights, Night Clubs were closed with a curfew starting 7:00pm

Uganda Launces Tourism Brand “Explore Uganda, the pearl of Africa”

When good things begin happening, you cant help celebrating. Today Smiles are being restored on the faces of tour operators especially with the the president dropping the directive to test all incoming travelers from all airports, sea and land borders. This means that tourists can now travel freely without without having to worry about being quarantined which has in most cases lead to failure to do gorilla trekking since Gorilla Permits are issued for expiry on a specific date. For the tour operators, the smile comes mainly from the introduction of “Explore Uganda, the Pearl of Africa” brand that will aim at marketing of destination Uganda to the rest of the world. Why you should Visit Uganda in 2022

All restrictions have been lifted meaning you can now enjoy Uganda tours without having to worry curfew, mandatory testing or being alone in the game park. You are required to present a negative PCR test taken with 72 Hours before Arrival and to continue following Standard operating procedures including properly wearing your mask whilst on a safari, social distance and  frequently sanitizing.
